Public Vote Decides Blueberry Festival Poster Design

MARQUETTE, MICHIGAN – In preparation for Downtown Marquette’s annual Blueberry Festival, the Marquette Downtown Development Authority invites the community to select the winner of this year’s Blueberry Festival Poster Contest through an online vote. The public is encouraged to log on to http://downtownmarquette.org/blueberry-festival-poster-contest/ between Monday, May 12, and Wednesday, May 28, to cast a vote for their favorite entry. For those who prefer to view the submissions in person, entries will be on display at the Marquette Arts and Culture Center in the Lower Level of the Peter White Public Library throughout the voting period where votes may be cast in a ballot box.

New this year, the winning entry will be determined by a combined score based on the online vote open to the public and a panel of judges comprised of local artists, downtown business owners and public officials.

The winning artwork will be used to create this year’s official Blueberry Festival poster, becoming the thirteenth piece in the limited edition collection. The winning poster will debut prior to the Blueberry Festival, slated for Friday, July 25, from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Once again, the Blueberry Festival will feature a combination of traditional sidewalk sales, artists and crafters, food vendors, family activities, and live musical acts set in the streets of Downtown Marquette. The popular Blueberry Festival Youth Talent Show sponsored by the Lake Superior Youth Theatre will also return to complement the festivities. For more information, contact the DDA office at (906) 228-9475.
