Marquette, Michigan – May 22, 2014 – Peter White Public Library’s Film Club invites the public to a free screening of the modern classic film “Howards End” on Thursday, May 22 at 6:30 pm in the library’s Community Room. The film stars Anthony Hopkins, Emma Thompson, Vanessa Redgrave and Helena Bonham Carter.
Based on the classic novel by E. M. Forster, “Howards End” is a story of class relations in turn of the century England. The plot revolves around the lives of three families- the wealthy capitalist Wilcoxes, the enlightened bourgeoisie Schlegel sisters and the Basts, a lower middle class couple down on their luck- examining the codes of conduct, personal relationships and social conventions of the time.
A nine time Academy Award and four time Golden Globe nominee, winning Best Actress in both for Emma Thompson, “Howards End” was released in 1992, is rated PG and runs for 140 minutes. Light refreshments will be served.
