The Michigan Youth ChalleNGe Academy is a FREE 22-week residential course opened to all Michigan high school dropouts or at risk youth, 16 to 18 years old. The MYCA is designed to help high school dropouts and at risk youth obtain a GED or high school diploma, improve life skills and improve the chance of employment through military-style discipline. In addition to 400 hours of classroom instruction, cadets receive leadership, self-discipline, physical and vocational training. Cadets also perform a minimum of 40 hours of community service and earn twenty- one hours of college credit from Kellogg Community College. There is no cost to participate and no obligation to join the military.
The Michigan Youth ChalleNGe Academy is conducting orientations for the January 2015 class.
The following orientation will take place on Saturday October 11,2014 at the Army National Guard Armory located at 1170 East Portage Ave. Sault Ste. Marie, MI at 10:00AM.
All interested youth must attend an orientation to be considered for acceptance.
