If you have ever expressed an interest in public service, the State of Michigan Department of Corrections is currently seeking Corrections Officers at two facilities in the Upper Peninsula. Corrections Officers are being recruited to serve at the Alger Maximum Correctional Facility, as well as the Ojibway Correctional Facility.
Candidates are required to successfully complete an approved training program designed to provide knowledge and skills necessary to function as a Corrections Officer. An applicant must finish an approved six-week corrections officer training program that yields a certificate of completion. The final two weeks of the training program are completed after hire as a Corrections Officer 8. Candidates must have completed 15 semester or 23 term college credits in one or a combination of the following areas: correctional administration, criminal justice, criminology, psychology, social work, sociology, counseling and guidance, educational psychology, family relations, pastoral counseling, or law enforcement. |
