Marquette – Great Lakes Recovery Centers Youth Services will sponsor an Empty Bowls fundraiser on Monday, April 12 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Coco’s Restaurant in Marquette.
Enjoy a bowl of soup served with rolls and fry bread, and select a handpainted bowl to take home, all for a donation of $10. Signature bowls painted by local artists and community members will be available for purchase in a silent auction.
Proceeds will benefit GLRC Youth Services food budget, with 10 percent donated to the Central Upper Peninsula Chapter of the American Red Cross for Haiti food relief. Empty Bowls events are part of an international effort to relieve hunger.
Restaurants contributing soups include Coco’s, The Vierling, Lagniappe, Elizabeth’s Chop House, the New York Deli, Baby Cakes Muffin Co., Sweet Water Cafe, The Rubaiyat, Sai Uwa Thai Bistro, The Wild Rover and Jean Kay’s.
