Marquette – “Traces of the Trade: A Story from the Deep North” will be screened on Wednesday, November 8 at 6:30 p.m. in the Pioneer Room of the University Center at Northern Michigan University.
The film screening will be offered by Dain and Constance Perry, a married couple involved with the film. They will also facilitate a discussion on race, reconciliation and healing.
In the documentary, filmmaker Katrina Browne discovers that her New England ancestors, who were Northerners, were the largest slave-trading family in U.S. history. The film follows 10 DeWolf descendants, including Dain Perry, who retrace the triangle trade and gain new perspectives. Constance Perry is descendant of slaves in North Carolina.
