Marquette – A WWI Remembered Film, “A Very Long Engagement” will be shown on Monday, February 13 at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library.
This French drama is about Mathilde, a young woman who suffered from polio as a child, and her fiance Manech, a soldier sent to the battle of the Somme. When told that Manech along with four other soldiers has been sent to No Man’s Land to be killed by the Germans because of self-inflicted wounds to avoid combat, Mathilde sets out on a journey to find her fiancé and discover what has really happened. This color film in French with English subtitles is rated R and runs for 133 minutes.
