Marquette – CineArts Films, a series devoted to foreign and independent films, will screen the 2015 Academy Award winning foreign film “Ida” on Friday, April 8 at 6 p.m. in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library.
In 1962, Anna, an 18-year-old Polish novice is about to take her vows as a Catholic nun when her estranged Aunt Wanda visits and reveals stunning news. Anna is Jewish and her real name is Ida. Together, the women journey to the family village to discover what happened to Ida’s parents during the Nazi occupation.
The film is in black and white, in Polish with English subtitles, rated PG-13, and runs for 80 minutes. Marek Haltof of the department of English will introduce the film. at NMU2014.
