Antique Appraisal Event May 15th

MARQUETTE,MICHIGAN – Don’t throw it away! Find out how much that treasure in the attic is worth at the Peter White Public Library’s two part antique appraisal event on Thursday, May 15, 2014 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm & Friday, May 16 from 1:00 pm to 4:00pm in the library’s Community room. Verbal item appraisals will be provided for advance ticket holders by Mark F. Moran, of Iola, Wisconsin, who has been active as an appraiser of antiques and fine art for more than 20 years. Spectators are welcome to attend at no charge and enjoy the action.

Tickets for a scheduled appraisal time are available now from the library’s circulation desk on the main floor for $15.00 per item. There is a limited number of tickets available for the day with a maximum purchase of 3 tickets per person. Tickets can also be reserved by calling 906-228-9510 with a valid credit card. Proceeds will benefit the Peter White Public Library.

Categories of objects for appraisal may include: fine art, furniture, ceramics, glassware, vintage photographs, advertising, folk art, assorted toys, metalware, clocks, costume jewelry, and musical instruments. Items not appropriate for evaluation are weapons, coins and paper money, Beanie Babies, fine jewelry and precious gems. Questions on appropriate items can be submitted in advance to Moran via phone or email.

Guest appraiser Mark Moran is the former senior editor of Antiques and Collectibles Books for Krause Publications in Iola, Wisconsin. He has served as a contributing editor for Antique Trader magazine, editor of Antique Review East and producer of Atlantic City’s antique show “Atlantique City.” Mark is also the author or co-author of more than 25 books on antiques and collectibles, including the 800-page annual Warman’s Antiques & Collectibles. Mark bought and sold antiques for more than 30 years, specializing in vintage folk art, Americana, and fine art. He has also been a guest expert on the PBS series, Antiques Roadshow.
