Marquette – DocuMonday will offer a screening of “I Am Not Your Negro” on Monday, August 7 at 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library.
In 1979, James Baldwin wrote a letter describing the state of race relations in his final project, Remember This House, covering the lives and assassinations of three of his friends: Medgar Evers, Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King, Jr. When Baldwin died in 1987, he had only completed 30 pages of his manuscript. This documentary, narrated by Samuel L. Jackson and directed by Raoul Peck, completes the book that Baldwin never finished. Winning the award for Best Documentary at the Chicago International Film Festival and the Dublin Film Critics Circle Award, the film runs for 1 hour 33 minutes and is rated PG-13.
There is no admission charge thanks to sponsorship by the Friends of the Peter White Public Library. For more information, visit www.pwpl.info or call 226-4318.
