Marquette – Jeff Olson, a father from Ishpeming, will be talking about the stigma of mental illness and how it took the life of his son on Thursday, March 29 at 7 p.m. in Jamrich Hall Room 1100.
“Do it for Daniel”, a documentary of Daniel Olson’s struggles with anxiety and depression which ultimately led him to take his life at the age of 19, will be shown after the lecture.
The focus of this free event is to educate people and get rid of the stigma of mental illness so people understand that it is a common medical illness. It is designed to give hope and create a dialogue so those who suffer don’t feel ashamed and aren’t afraid to ask for help, allowing for early recognition and intervention which is so important in treating this disease.
The public is encouraged to attend.
