Marquette – The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will offer Boating Skills and Seamanship Classes beginning on Wednesday, January 18 at 7 p.m. in the NMU Superior Dome Room 101 in Marquette.
The classes will include sessions on boat handling, weather, rules of the road, safety, navigation, trailering, and knots. This course is geared for everyone from the novice to the seasoned mariner and is suitable for all boating enthusiasts 10 years of age and up.
The course is offered to the public for a nominal materials fee with the instruction provided free of charge by qualified members of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. The course will be 13 weeks in duration with a final exam. Successful completion qualifies the graduate to receive a certificate of achievement which is recognized by most insurance carriers for vessel insurance discounts, state and local law enforcement agencies and the United States Coast Guard.
Registration will be the night of the first class on Wednesday, January 18th 2017 at 7:00 pm. Classes will meet once a week. Course fee is $30 for materials. For additional family members the fee is $5 each for additional final exam books.
