Marquette – The Matinee Movie series will offer a screening of the bio/music/drama “Miles Ahead” on Tuesday, September 20 at 12:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library.
In the midst of a prolific career, Miles Davis, played by Don Cheadle, disappears from public view for five years in the late 1970s. He lives in isolation while dealing with chronic pain, a musical voice numbed by drugs, and traumatic memories of his past. A music reporter, played by Ewan McGregor, forces his way into Davis’ house and, over the next couple of days, the two men unwittingly
embark on an adventure to recover a stolen tape recording of the musician’s most recent compositions. Davis flirts with self-destruction until he once again finds redemption in his music.
“Miles Ahead” premiered in at the New York Film Festival in October 2015, runs for 100 minutes and
is rated R. Matinee Movie welcomes the public to bring their own lunch and enjoy the movie in a dinner theater setting. Closed captioning will be on to ensure access for all.
