MARQUETTE, MICHIGAN – Retired McGill University professor, Roger Magnuson will teach a six week course entitled “Paris Under Nazi Germany ” in the Peter White Public Library’s Lions room beginning on Thursday, April 21 at 6:30 pm.
Covering the period during World War II from May 1940 to late summer of 1944, the course will examine conditions under the Nazi military administration set up in Paris, known as Vichy France. The dictatorship ended with the liberation of France with the Allies landings at Normandy and Provence.
The class meets weekly on Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:00pm and runs through May 26. The class is open to the public at no charge and no registration is required.
Roger P. Magnuson holds a Ph.D. in History and Philosophy of Education from the University of Michigan. Now retired, he was a Professor of Education, McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, where he taught for more than thirty years. Professor Magnuson is the author of four books on Quebec educational history and has been teaching classes at Peter White Public Library since 2007 at no charge.
