NMU Hosts Fist Nations Food Taster – Nov. 6

Marquette, MichiganNovember 4, 2015 – The Northern Michigan University Native American Student Association is hosting its 15th annual First Nations Food Taster from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, at the NMU Jacobetti Complex. This year’s menu features recipes from the Decolonizing Diet Project, as well as contemporary Native American dishes. Selections include pumpkin cornbread, bison/venison meatloaf, sweet potatoes, sun butter cookies, wild rice and three sisters casserole. Elda Tate will provide Native American flute music.

The event is a “Dish Bag” event; attendees who bring their own reusable, unbreakable dishware will be entered in a raffle for prizes. Tickets are available for advanced purchase until Nov. 4 at 112 Whitman Hall or 3001 Hedgcock at NMU. Advance tickets are $5 for senior citizens and NMU students with a student ID and $12 for the general public. Prices at the door are $7 for children, senior citizens and NMU students with a student ID and $15 for the general public. Tickets for children will be sold only at the door.
