MARQUETTE –-To raise awareness during Birth Empowerment Week, local businesses are teaming up to hold Marquette’s first Belly to Baby Expo on Saturday, September 12, from 1 – 5 p.m., at North Star Academy, located at 3030 Wright Street in Marquette.
The free event will feature many local businesses, including: a holistic health doctor, massage therapist, pilates instructor, chiropractors, our local ICAN chapter, certified doulas, and many more.
“As a Certified Labor and Postpartum Doula and Co-Owner of Doulas of Marquette, it’s my passion for women and families to know the local options within our community,” said Melinda Britton. “The Belly to Baby Expo is a free event that will feature many businesses and services that help support pregnancy, newborns, and family needs.”
Melinda added, “As part of the goal of the Marquette Belly to Baby Expo we chose to hold it at North Star Academy, a natural gathering place for children and families. We don’t charge an entrance fee so that you are able to in turn connect with local businesses and invest in them. Showcasing and connecting you to the local resources and businesses in our community is what matters most- we look forward to seeing you there.”
The event will feature door prizes including a one-year family membership to the U.P. Children’s Museum, a one-hour massage, a newborn photo session, breastfeeding accessories, and more. The first 50 people will receive a goodie bag from the Marquette Community Health Department’s Breastfeeding Peer Counselors.
