Calendar – Community – Family Weekend at NMU – Oct. 9-11

Marquette – Family Weekend will be held Friday, October 9 through Sunday, October 11 at Northern Michigan University.

The event is designed so that families can feel as if they are a part of their student’s college experience. Events start on Friday with an information table set up, with schedules, information on local attractions and tickets for Family Weekend activities, from 2 to 5 p.m. in the University Center atrium.

Friday events include an all-you-care-to-eat fish fry with music by Jim and Ray from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Marketplace on campus. Tickets can be purchased at the door or a student can use a guest pass. A women’s volleyball game against the Malone Pioneers is scheduled at 4 p.m. in Vandament Arena. Omid Singh, an international comedian with a fast-paced comedy routine, will perform at 8 p.m. in 1100 Jamrich Hall. Admission is free.

Saturday events include a tailgate party from 11 to 12:30 p.m. in Vandament Arena. It features picnic food, door prizes an an appearance by the Wildcat Marching Band. Tickets must be purchased in advance and are available through NMU EZ Ticket outlets. The party precedes the 1 p.m. football game between the Wildcats and Malone. Women’s volleyball will play the Walsh Cavaliers at 4 p.m. in Vandament Arena. At 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. in Jamrich 1100, Campus Cinema will host the movie, “Mission Impossible: Roque Nation.” Admission is free for NMU students and $1 for non-students.

The Marketplace will offer a Family Weekend brunch, prepared by Dining Services staff and NMU culinary students, on Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
