IRON RIVER, MI – (July 30, 2015) – Nicole Fedie-Zaupa of Crystal Falls is coordinating the 2015 Upper Peninsula Walk for Children with Apraxia of Speech event on Saturday, September 12 th at Nanaimo Park.
All proceeds will benefit important apraxia programs and research of the Childhood Apraxia of Speech Association of North America (CASANA).
Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) is a very challenging and complicated neurological speech disorder in children. This little known disorder makes it difficult or impossible for children to accurately produce sounds, syllables, and/or words despite having a good understanding of language. The Walk for Children with Apraxia of Speech® is held across the country as a means to heighten awareness and funding.
“We are working to educate others and bring awareness of CAS to our area. Children and their families affected with this rare speech disorder work hard every day to communicate with those around them. We are working to spread awareness to our community and to those affected by CAS. Please come join us to learn, show support, and most importantly…have fun! We hope to see you there!” Nicole says. The 2015 Upper Peninsula Walk for Children with Apraxia of Speech is open to all adults and children. On-site registration and check-in on September 12 th begins at 10:00 AM, with the walk starting at 10:30 AM. Anyone interested in registering, making a donation, or learning more about the event can contact nmfedie@hotmail.com or visit the event website at http://casana.apraxia-kids.org/upperpeninsulawalk.
