MARQUETTE, MI – In honor of National Library Week Peter White Public Library invites film fans to a spring break celebration of award winning films inspired by well loved books from April 7 through April 9 at 3:00pm daily in the library’s Community room.
National Library Week is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation’s libraries and librarians and to promote library use and support. All types of libraries – school, public, academic and special – participate.
Hugo, the 2011 film based on the book by Brian Selznick, will be screened on Wednesday, April 8. The five time Academy Award winner is the story of a young boy who, left all alone in Paris, lives within the walls of the train station, maintaining the clocks, acquiring food by stealing, and spending his free time trying to fix the automaton his father left behind. The automaton is a mechanical man that his father found difficult to fix. It’s Hugo’s mission to see that it finally works. The film stars Asa Butterfield, Ben Kingsley and Sacha Baron Cohen, was released in 2011, is rated PG and runs for 126 minutes.
Viewers are welcome to bring their own snacks and enjoy the Blu-ray versions of the feature films, in a cafe setting.
There is no admission charge thanks to sponsorship by the Friends of the Peter White Public Library. For more information visit www.pwpl.info or call 226-4318.
