MARQUETTE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE
PRESS RELEASE
*FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE*
DATE: August 17, 2011 CONTACT: Sheri Ennett
225-8436
Public Act 295 of 1994 was amended on July 1, 2011, requiring all registered sex offenders to have palm prints and fingerprints on file with the Michigan Department of State Police (MSP) for forwarding to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Per statute, all registered sex offenders must have palm prints and fingerprints taken no later than September 12, 2011, if they are not already on file.
Registered sex offenders whose palm prints and/or fingerprints are not on file with the MSP will receive notification by mail instructing them to report to the nearest law enforcement agency, sheriff’s office or state police post with the ability to capture fingerprints and palm prints. The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office is one of two agencies in Marquette County with that capability.
The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office will offer this service on the following dates/times:
Saturday, August 27, 2011 from 8:00–11:00 a.m. and 1:00–4:00 p.m.
AND
Saturday, September 3, 2011 from 8:00–11:00 a.m. and 1:00–4:00 p.m.
The Sheriff’s Office will not take prints for this purpose outside of these time periods. Please be advised that the Livescan machine at the Sheriff’s Office is located in the jail and, therefore, you will need to be pat-searched prior to entering.
Offenders do have the option of reporting to the Michigan State Police Post, Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to complete this requirement. MSP will take appointments by calling 475-9922.
Regardless of the department that you choose to go to PLAN ON WAITING.
