(Houghton, MI) – The Parade of Nations and the Copper Country Community Arts Center have joined hands to add an art fair to the annual multicultural celebration. This year’s Parade of Nations is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 14.
The Parade of Nations Art Fair will take place upstairs at the Dee Stadium during the multicultural festival at the Dee that traditionally follows the parade itself. International foods and crafts will still be sold on the main floor of the stadium, and a lively free show is scheduled.
The art fair on the second floor will feature paintings, crafts, clothing, fiber and needlework, handmade jewelry and ceramics. The Copper Country Community Arts Council is a nonprofit arts organization dedicated to fostering an environment where the arts and people grow together.
Artists who want to display in the fair can get more information by emailing ccarts@coppercountryarts.com or calling 906-482-2333. The booth fee is $50, and the deadline to apply is Friday, Aug. 16.
This year’s Parade of Nations theme is “Global Variation in One Location. The parade, which features floats and flags representing many nations and cultures, begins at 11 a.m. in downtown Hancock, crosses the Portage Lift Bridge and continues through downtown Houghton to the Dee. Thousands of people always come to see the parade and participate in the multicultural festival afterwards.
