Lake Superior Youth Theatre “Once On This Island Jr.” Auditions Next Week

Marquette, MI – Lake Superior Youth Theatre will be holding auditions for their upcoming summer production of “Once On This Island Jr”. All auditions will take place at the Graveraet School, 3rd floor, located at 611 N. Front Street, Marquette, MI.

With its poignant story and catchy Caribbean-flavored score, Once On This Island JR. is a highly original theatrical adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s popular fairy tale, The Little Mermaid. From the TONY Award-winning songwriting team of Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Ragtime and Seussical) this magical tale of love garnered eight TONY nominations, including nods for Best Musical, Book and Score!

Audition callbacks will be held on at Graveraet School.

The production features a large amount of featured and ensemble roles. Check out the audition website at http://www.broadwayjr.com/audition/auditionlist.asp?ID=000206 for character information and audition prep materials.

Youth ages preschool to 12th grade are eligible to audition. Youth actors, singers, gymnasts and dancers are all needed for a variety of parts. Those auditioning will be asked to read from scenes, sing a song, and dance. A pianist will be provided. Those who do not wish to sing a song at auditions may choose not to do so but must come to a vocal audition.

There is no cost to audition but there is a registration fee to participate in the production. There are special family rates and scholarships available.

Those wishing to serve on Tech Crew can sign up by filling out a form at auditions or email us at lakesuperioryouththeatre@gmail.com . We need people for spotlight operation, microphones, set changes, costume quick changes, etc.

Performances will take place at Lake Superior Theatre on August 6-9 (Cast One) & 12-15 (Cast Two), 2015.
