Marquette, MI – Lake Superior Hospice in collaboration with Lake Superior Palliative Medicine is hosting second annual Upper Great Lakes Regional Palliative Care and Hospice Conference “A Patient’s Right to Quality Care….Providing the Care Patients Desire and Deserve”. The conference is scheduled for October 21 & 22 at Northern Michigan University. Registration is now open for those seeking to deepen their knowledge and practice in hospice and palliative care. Registration is available at the rate of $125 for those who register before October 12th.
The focus of the conference includes advance care planning, ethical care options/treatments, and providing quality hospice care. Other topics presented at the conference will include the future of hospice and palliative care, MI-POST progress report, symptom management at end of life, evidence based advance care planning methods, palliative sedation, how palliative care is being used in the Upper Peninsula and legal issues surrounding end of life care.
A diverse, expert panel of presenters will bring this information to attendees. This conference will offer more than 20 distinguished speakers. Keynote speakers include Stephanie Anderson, a senior consultant/faculty for Respecting Choices at Gundersen Health System, Dr. Patrick T. Smith, an Ethics Coordinator for the Angela Hospice Care Center, and Dr. Tom Tomlinson, a Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Michigan State University.
