Marquette – Film fans are invited to a BYO Dinner Theater to experience a screening of “12 Years a Slave” on Tuesday July 15 at 5:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library.
Based on an incredible true story of one man’s fight for survival and freedom, this powerful film is set in the pre-Civil War United States. Solomon Northup, a free black man from upstate New York, is abducted and sold into slavery. Facing cruelty, as well as unexpected kindnesses, Solomon struggles not only to stay alive, but to retain his dignity. In the twelfth year of his unforgettable odyssey, Solomon’s chance meeting with a Canadian abolitionist will forever alter his life.
“12 Years a Slave” was released in 2013, is rated R and runs for 134 minutes. BYO Dinner Theater welcomes the public to bring their own takeout supper and enjoy a feature film, in a dinner theater setting. There is no admission charge. thanks to
