Marquette, Michigan – The City of Marquette Arts and Culture Center announces its August exhibition: Sender Channel Receiver Feedback by Chicago based artist, Noelle Allen. Allen’s exhibition is a collection of experimental, interdisciplinary sculptures made from resin, felt, wax and concrete. Allen received her Masters of Fine Art in 2004 from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and currently is an Associate Professor of Art at Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois.
The SmallWorks Gallery will feature: Art Meets Quilting by artists Ragene Henry and Judy Parlato and other members of the Marquette County Quilters Association. Henry and Parlato are both part of Explorers Art Quilt Group, a sub group of the larger association. This groups’ purpose is to expand the boundaries of quilting and focus on fine art. New ideas, techniques and mediums are practiced to create the finished piece. Mediums include fabric, fiber, beads, and found objects.
The shows will be running from Aug. 4 to Aug. 30, and there will be an artist reception on Thursday, Aug. 7 from 6 to 8 p.m.
The City of Marquette Arts and Culture Center is located at 217 N. Front Street in the lower level of the Peter White Public Library. For more information or questions, contact (906) 228-0472 or email arts-culture@mqtcty.org.
