MARQUETTE, MICHIGAN – Peter White Public Library invites film fans to a BYO Dinner Theater event on Thursday July 10 at 5:30 pm to enjoy a screening of “The Book Thief” in the library’s Community room.
Based on the beloved international bestseller, “The Book Thief” tells the story of Liesel, played by rising star, Sophie Nélisse. Liesel is a courageous young girl sent to live with a foster family in World War II Germany. She learns to read with encouragement from her foster father, played by Geoffrey Rush, and Max, a Jewish refugee who they are hiding under the stairs. For Liesel and Max, the power of words and imagination become the only escape from the tumultuous events happening around them. This film is a life-affirming story of survival and of the resilience of the human spirit.
Nominated for an Academy Award for the moving John Williams music score, “The Book Thief” was released in 2013, is rated PG-13 and runs for 131 minutes.
