Marquette – Peter White Public Library’s Film Club invites the public to a free screening of the modern classic film “Dead Poets Society” on Thursday, June 26 at 6:30 p.m. in the library’s Community Room.
In this drama, English teacher John Keating inspires his students to a love of poetry and to “seize the day.” Painfully shy Todd Anderson has been sent to the school where he lives in the shadow of his popular older brother. His room-mate, Neil, although exceedingly bright and popular, isvery much under the thumb of his overbearing father. The two, along with their friends, meet Professor Keating who tells them of the Dead Poets Society and encourages them to go against the status quo. Each does this in their own way and are changed for ever.
“Dead Poets Society” was released in 1989, is rated PG and runs for 128 minutes. Light refreshments will be served. There is no admission charge. For more information visit www.pwpl.info or call 226-4318.
