MARQUETTE, MICHIGAN – Shakespeare Readers will meet on Wednesday, May 7 at 6:30 pm in the Peter White Public Library’s Shiras Room for a reading of “All’s Well That Ends Well.”
This comedy’s central character is Helena, the poor orphan daughter of a famous physician, who is hopelessly in love with Bertram, the son of her guardian whom she has no hope of attracting, since she is of low birth and he is a nobleman. However, when word comes that the King is ill, she goes to Paris and, using her father’s arts, cures the illness. In return, she is given the hand of any man in the realm and she chooses Bertram, who flees in horror at the idea. As the story unfolds and the play’s title indicates “all’s well that ends well.”
Shakespeare Readers is a group for anyone who is intrigued with reading the works of William Shakespeare. They meet on the first Wednesday of each month and new readers are always welcome.
