Marquette – In recognition of Women’s History Month, DocuMonday and Temple Beth Sholom will screen the documentary film “Ahead of Time” on Monday, March 3 at 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library.
The film is about Ruth Gruber, journalist, photographer, writer and humanitarian. Born in 1911, Ruth Gruber’s sharp intellect and moxie propelled her to become the world’s youngest PhD at age 20, New York Herald Tribune reporter by age 24, and the first journalist to enter the Soviet Arctic. A trusted member of the Roosevelt Administration during WWII, she was a feminist before feminism. Ruth covered the turbulent Middle East throughout the 1940’s, escorted Holocaust refugees to America and covered the Nuremberg trials.
“Ahead of Time” was released in 2009, is not rated and runs for 73 minutes. There is no admission charge to attend and refreshments will be served. For more information visit www.pwpl.info or call 226-4318.
