2014 Early Childhood Conference P.L.A.Y. ~ “Purposeful Learning for Active Young people”
This year’s Upper Peninsula Early Childhood Conference will be held at Northern Michigan University this spring with the theme of P.L.A.Y. ~ “Purposeful Learning for Active Young people”. The 30th Annual Conference will be held this year on Friday, March 21st and Saturday, March 22nd, with two keynote presentations: Jim Gill, whose music can be previewed at www.jimgill.com, and Dan Hodgins, an exceptional, internationally renowned presenter and author of two books, “Boys: Changing the Classroom, Not the Child” and his new book titled, “GET OVER IT, Relearning guidance practices”. Daniel has presented in 42 states and Canada.
The conference will get underway on Friday, March 21st , with keynote presentations and workshops at the University Center, NMU. This conference will be of interest to primary caregivers, parents, students, educators and anyone who works with young children. Participants will have a multitude of interesting workshops including: Hands-On Learning and Sensory Integration; CDA Tips, TEACH Support; Writing in Preschool!; Using Visuals to Enhance Learning; Using Everyday Materials; Raising Mindfulness in Parents/Teachers; Math in the Early Childhood Classroom, and Medications with Young Children. The two-day conference continues on Saturday, March 22nd at 8:30am with a family-friendly emphasis until 3:30pm.

Jim Gill’s 2014 Contagious Tunes Tour celebrates 20 years of Jim’s recordings for children and families. With The Sneezing Song & Other Contagious Tunes, he has been spreading music play to families far and wide, and for them to sing together.
