MARQUETTE, MI – Tasty Reads, a book group for readers who love to cook, will meet for a lunchtime book discussion on Monday, January 20 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm in the Peter White Public Library’s Shiras Room. This month’s discussion centers on the book, A Thousand Days in Venice: An Unexpected Romance by Marlena de Blasi.
A deliciously satisfying memoir about the author’s adventures in Italy as a divorced American chef. Unexpectedly, she meets the love of her life and within months of their first meeting, quit her job, sold her house in St. Louis, kissed her two grown sons good-bye, and moved to Venice to marry “the stranger.” A Thousand Days in Venice is filled with the foods and flavors of Italy and peppered with culinary observations and recipes. But the main course here is an enchanting true story about a woman who falls in love with both a man and a city, and finally finds the home she didn’t even know she was missing.
