Marquette – DocuMonday will present the film “Project Nim” on Monday, December 2 at 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library.
This documentary is about Nim, a chimpanzee who in the 1970’s became the focus of a landmark experiment which aimed to show that an ape could learn to communicate with language if raised and nurtured like a human child. Following Nim’s extraordinary journey through human society, and the enduring impact he makes on the people he meets along the way, the film is an unflinching and unsentimental biography of an animal we tried to make human.
“Project Nim” was released in 2011, is rated PG-13 and runs for 93 minutes. There is no admission charge. For more information visit www.pwpl.info or call 226-4318.
