Marquette – The Matinee Movie series will offer a screening of “Woman in Gold” on Tuesday, September 15 at 12:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library.
Based on the true story of the late Maria Altmann, an elderly Jewish refugee living in Cheviot Hills, Los Angeles, who, together with her young lawyer, fought the government of Austria for almost a decade to reclaim Gustav Klimt’s iconic painting of her aunt, Adele Bloch-Bauer I. The painting was stolen from her relatives by the Nazis in Vienna just prior to World War II. Altmann took her legal battle all the way to the Supreme Court of the United States.
“Woman in Gold” premiered at the 2015 Berlin Film Festival, is rated PG-13 and
runs for 109 minutes. Matinee Movie welcomes the public to bring their own lunch and enjoy a film in a dinner theater setting. Closed captioning will be on to insure access for all.
