Children’s Museum Getting Big Help To Replace HVAC Equipment

(Marquette, Michigan) — On Friday, September 27th members of the Marquette County Labor Council, as well as Dressler Mechanical and Children’s Museum staff will install two new heating and air conditioning units on the roof of the Children’s Museum.

The two existing units, which are both very old, have been malfunctioning more and more as they age. As of right now, the museum can rely on only one for heating, and the other for cooling.

Museum Director Nheena Weyer Ittner is overjoyed that this project is coming to fruition.

“Right now, if either unit loses its last leg, we would be without heating or cooling, and both could be devastating to our mission of serving area children and families,” she said.

The museum has been fund-raising for the past two years and has raised several thousand dollars to match a $5,216.00 grant from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs through its Capital Grant Program.

Other significant contributions included a $300 grant from the Greater Ishpeming Area Community Fund. Museum visitors have also given many hundred dollars through a donation box in the Museum.
