Rayome Named Interim Business Dean at Northern Michigan University

MARQUETTE, Mich.—David Rayome has been named interim dean of Northern Michigan University’s College of Business. The appointment was announced by NMU Provost Paul Lang.

“David is an accomplished teacher and researcher and is well-respected for his expertise within the larger business community,” wrote Lang in an email announcement to NMU employees. “I am delighted that he has agreed to serve as interim dean for the coming year and I am confident that the College of Business will move forward in a positive direction with his leadership.”

Rayome joined the NMU faculty in 1991 and was named the college’s outstanding teacher in 2002. He most recently held the rank of full professor and served as chair of the Graduate Programs Committee during the last academic year. Rayome directed Northern’s MBA program when it was re-established and launched in 2010. His research interests include international business and the systematic trading of equities and futures.

A native of Lewisburg, Ohio, Rayome received his bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Akron. He earned his doctorate at Kent State University. His major was finance with a minor in international economics.

Rayome’s interim appointment fills the vacancy left by Jamal Rashed, who recently accepted a position at the College of Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati.
