Beyond Silicon: Transistor without Semiconductors

(Houghton, Michigan) – Scientists at Michigan Technological University have built a nanoscale transistor that works at room temperature. The device, only 20 nanometers wide, is made not with semiconductors but with gold quantum dots mounted on boron nitride nanotubes.
