Historical Marquette Bus Tours Begin July 10th

(Marquette, MI) – Schooner, Model T, and the Duluth South Shore & Atlantic Railroad Line. These were the methods of transportation for three fascinating characters arriving in Marquette. Young Ellen Harlow was a child when she arrived by schooner to the wilderness of Marquette, before there was an established town. Two presidents rode in early automobiles during their visits to our fair city – President Taft in his namesake parade in 1911 and Teddy Roosevelt who swung in for a trial in 1913. The train lines brought numerous folks to our bustling town; the DSS&A was the transport for Company M, a unit that was encamped here for training during WWI, the “Forgotten War.”

Hear the stories of these colorful characters and their time in our “Queen City of the North,” Marquette. Travel through multiple decades while meeting every day folks and celebrities that walked the shores and streets of town.

The Historical Bus Tours are a great way to see the town as it is today, while reflecting on the early days of bustling Marquette. Eight tours to choose from for summer. Advance ticket purchase recommended. Tickets available at marquettehistory.org or by calling 906.226.3571. Tickets for all tours are $15, limited seating available.
