Marquette – “Father Marquette and the 17th Century” will be presented on Thursday, July 18 at 7 p.m. at the Marquette Regional History Center on Spring Street in Marquette.
The program will begin with a discussion by Jon Magnuson about the Jesuits who explored the upper Great Lakes. Learn when and why they were here, how they traveled and the details of Father Marquette’s journeys.
Jim Paquette will then share the 17th century archaeological discoveries in Marquette County and what they may tell us about the people who lived here. There will be examples of early maps, navigational tools and artifacts to examine.
There is a $5 suggested donation. For more information, call 906-226-3571 or visit www.marquettehistory.org.
