Calendar – Education – Carp River History Hike – Aug. 14

Marquette – A Carp River History Hike will be offered on Thursday, August 14 at 6:30 p.m. beginning at the base of Mount Marquette off U.S. 41 in Marquette.

Explore the Carp River and learn some of its very unique history with local archaeologist Jim Paquette. Find out the relationship between the river and our first inhabitants. The hike will last about an hour.

Wear comfortable shoes, dress for the weather and bugs. The terrain is uneven and there are hills. The hike will honor the memory of the late Dr. John Anderton who shared his passion for archeology with many people. There will be iced tea, lemonade and cookies at the end of the hike.

Tickets are $10 and are available at the History Center or online marquettehistory.org. There will be limited tickets available that evening. Proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit the Marquette Regional History Center.
