Calendar – Films/Documentaries – Black History Month Film “The Loving Story” Showing – Feb. 5

Marquette – Black History Month is being observed throughout the month of February at Northern Michigan University. “The Loving Story” will be shown on Tuesday, February 5 at 6 p.m. at Whitman Commons.

The film is a documentary about an interracial couple who married in Washington D.C. in the 1950’s and then returned to their native state of Virginia where their marriage was illegal. It is an outline of their battle, which went all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, to make their marriage legal.
