Marquette – Afternoon Classic Films will present a screening of Bridge on the River Kwai on Monday, November 5 at 1:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library.
Set in Thailand during World War II following the surrender of Singapores. After settling his differences with a Japanese POW camp commander, a British colonel co-operates to oversee his men constructing a railway bridge for their captors while oblivious to a plan by the Allies to destroy it.
Released in 1957 and winner of seven Academy Awards, Bridge on the River Kwai is a National Film Registry selection of the Library of Congress, runs for 161 minutes and is shown in color.
