Marquette – Afternoon Classic Films will present a screening of the film “Gentleman’s Agreement” on Monday, August 6 at 1:30 pm in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library.
The drama is about recently widowed journalist, Phil Green, who goes undercover, at the invitation of his publisher, to write a series of hard-hitting articles on the scourge of anti-Semitism. Pretending to be Jewish, Green personally discovers the true depth of bigotry and hatred in New York City and the nearby affluent community of Darien, Connecticut. The movie, controversial in its time, was based on Laura Z. Hobson’s novel of the same name.
There is no admission charge thanks to sponsorship by the Friends of the Peter White Public Library. For more information visit www.pwpl.info or call 226-4318.
