Marquette – The Friday Film Club welcomes the public to a screening of the modern classic film ”Good Night, and Good Luck” on Friday, June 15 at 1:30 pm in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library.
The film examines the struggle of the 1950s broadcast journalist Edward R. Murrow, host of the two most popular news programs on television. Murrow used his position to help end Senator Joseph McCarthy’s communist witch-hunts that were throwing the country into hysteria. McCarthy turned his venom on Murrow, but the reporters facts and enlightened ideals finally won out.
Released in 2005, the film is shown in black and white, rated PG and runs for 93 minutes.
Light refreshments will be served and, following the screening, viewers will have an opportunity to discuss their reactions to the film.
