Marquette – Northern Michigan University’s political science and public administration department will sponsor the presentation “After Evil: Politics and Human Rights” on Friday, September 24 at 3 p.m. in Reynolds Recital Hall.
Robert Meister, University of California-Santa Cruz professor and author of “Political Identity: Thinking Through Marx,” will discuss the rise of human rights talk and its deployment in societies with a past of injustice or atrocity. Meister’s speech will be followed by “Truth Commissions and Human Rights,” presented by NMU professor Jonathan Allen.
