Marquette – The city of Marquette Parks and Recreation Department and the Marquette Downtown Development Authority will offer a series of free ice skating programs on Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Marquette Commons ice rink at 112 S. Third Street in downtown Marquette..
Wednesday, January 20 will be Family Skate Night for families to enjoy an evening of skating with Northern Michigan University’s mascot, Wildcat Willy.
Wednesday, January 27 is NMU Student Skate Night, and February 3 is Couples Date and Skate Night, featuring a live concert by The Derrell Syria Project in the commons building.
Skaters will receive coupons from Aubree’s Pizzeria and Tavern and complimentary Donckers Dollars. Babycakes Muffin Company will sell hot cocoa and baked goods.
The staffed facility has a lighted rink, public restrooms, an indoor warming area with a fireplace, outdoor seating and music. A limited number of rental skates will be available for $3 a pair. For information, call 228-9475 or visit www.downtownmarquette.org.
