The Ishpeming Carnegie Public Library (ICPL) is happy to announce a Winter Reading Challenge that is set to begin on January 1st, 2025 and go through January 31st, 2025.
People of all ages are invited to participate by logging their reading and/or submitting book reviews. Individuals can use Beanstack to track their reading online by downloading the Beanstack app or visiting their website by clicking here! Additionally, participants may use paper reading logs or review slips and return them to the library. Participants who log reading or submit reviews during the Winter Reading Challenge in January will be eligible for a free certificate for frozen custard kindly donated by Culver’s, as well as entries for grand prize baskets.
In addition to the reading challenge, the library has an exciting lineup of programs happening throughout the month!
-January 2nd, 16th, and 30th, a brand-new program for kids called “Open Book” will be happening from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. This event will be a casual group for tweens and teens featuring drop-in activities such as, crafts, movies, and more!
-January 8th from 3:00pm to 7:00pm, the library is hosting a “Crochet for a Cause” event where people can learn how to or continue to work on granny squares for blankets for the library’s community organizations. Currently, ICPL has had well over 100 granny squares submitted, which is amazing!
–January 15th, 2025 at 4:30pm, the library will host a free movie showing for adults of the 2024 release, “Twisters” in our community room.
-January 18th, 2025 at 11:00am, Kitty from Hope-Dreams Art will be leading a free craft program for teens and adults where you can create “junk journals”.
-January 25th, 2025 from 12:00pm to 1:30pm, ICPL will host a “Silent Book Club” meeting at Velodrome Coffee in Ishpeming. This is a time for people to come together to read followed by time to socialize and talk about books. We are excited to offer all of these fun programs in January!
