Rock – American Legion Post 559 of Rock will conduct a Flag Day ceremony on Sunday, June 14 at 7 p.m. at the Rock Veterans Memorial.
Flags will be distributed to Legion and Lions Club baseball teams and other youths in attendance. Doris Wodrich will sing the National Anthem during the flag raising, which will be followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
The post will conduct the flag disposal ritual, burning unserviceable flags, followed by a reading about the American flag by Adjutant Al Jokela.
The program will conclude with a salute to the flag by a firing squad and the playing of “Taps” by Allan Jokela Jr.
In the event of rain, the program will be held at the Rock Lions Club. Old flags may be brought to the ceremony for retirement or given to any Rock Legionnaire.
