Marquette-based Peninsula Solar joins McBroom at Senate committee

LANSING, Mich. — State Sen. Ed McBroom, R-Vulcan, pictured left, welcomed Ben Schimpf of Marquette-based Peninsula Solar energy company to a hearing of the Senate Energy and Technology Committee on Tuesday.

The two spoke in support of McBroom’s Senate Bill 597, which would expand the use of so-called net metering and thereby enable solar companies to continue to operate in the state.

The legislation remains before the committee for further consideration.
