An educational seminar on extreme obesity and surgical options available for weight reduction will be offered at 6 p.m. Monday, August 20 in Conference Room 1 at Marquette General Hospital. Bariatric surgeon Wayne English will describe the types of weight loss surgeries, focusing on Roux-en-Y gastric bypass. He also will explain who meets the requirements for surgery, patient guidelines before and after surgery, and the lifestyle changes necessary after surgery.Video conferencing may be available at area hospitals.
