Marquette, Michigan – The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning and Northern Michigan University’s Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center will host a bus tour of the former K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base. It will be held from 12:30-4 p.m. Thursday, March 22, in conjunction with the Beaumier Center’s “Cold War and the U.P.” exhibit.
Beaumier Center Director Daniel Truckey and K.I. Sawyer Air Heritage Museum president Bob Vick will lead the tour. The tour will include many sites, such as the actual operations area, housing complexes, recreational facilities and the K.I. Sawyer Air Heritage Museum.
Attendees will meet at the Marquette Mall by Pizza Hut. The cost is $3 for NCLL members and $8 for non-members, plus $1 for the bus driver. Register before Thursday, March 15, by calling 227-2979. Call Caroline Jordan at 228-9953 for more information.
